Description

This is a family home just outside Galway City yet very much located in the countryside. The house is over 100 years old and is thatched, it was extended via a barn conversion giving plenty of space for six to a maximum of eight people. The property is surrounded by mature gardens with swings and climbing frame.
Our family consists of mum dad , one girl and three boys. Thelma is our "garden only" cat. The house consists of three large double bedrooms one smaller one that's ensuite and a little bedroom for the smallest member of the family . There is a kitchen/dining area, sunroom, sittingroom and utility room. The owners also offer their 28ft yacht for a similar exchange for cruising on Galway Bay or for the adventurer an overnight sail to the home of Grainne the Pirate Queen on Inisboffin. A fifteen minute drive will bring you into Galway city, the city of festivals. From the start of July till the end of August it's a continious party in the cultural capital of Ireland. This is a perfect base to tour Connemara, Mayo and County Clare, visit your roots, immerse yourself in culture or experience Irish music/dance at its best. A wonderful house in a wonderful location.

Neighborhood

The setting is rural yet easily accessed from the city. The neighbours are a mixture of older farmers and younger families working in the city. Its a very friendly area with a couple of nice rural pubs within a short drive.

About Us

The carberry's are not origionally from Galway, Trish is from Tipperary and Rory is from Wexford. The kids are all Galwegians. Our interests include Tennis, hurling, sailing and all things cultural. Would we leave galway - no, we love it, we love the city, the music and the craic. The boats and all things maritime play a large role in the house. We all sail, with mum being a late reluctant convert. The kids are 11,10,7 and 2 respectively. All go to school locally.
