Lovely danish cottage near beautiful river walks - great access to Jutlands biggest towns

Europe / Denmark / Arhus / Randers

Close To   Aarhus (30 Kms)

Description

Our little yellow house is in Randers - Denmarks 5th largest town. On the edge of town our semi-detached / double house has an open plan layout downstairs with one bedroom on the ground floor and three further rooms upstairs. In the open plan living area there are two seating areas, and a dining area, plus a kitchen which is somewhat separate.
The main double bedroom has double doors out to a balcony that looks out towards a little white danish church just 50 meters down the road. The house has wooden floors, except for the kitchen and bathroom which are tiled and have underfloor heating. One of the extra bedrooms upstairs has a double sofabed, there is space for a double bed in the other room too, but it's the baby's room at the moment. The downstairs bedroom has a single bed.

Our 3 bikes could well be included in the exchange.
Our baby is just 5 months old, so some baby equipment could be left if needed ...

Neighborhood

It's just 1/2km to Denmarks only river - Gudenaa ... and you can walk all the way along the river to the town or out to the forest and dear park. The whole river area in Randers has been going through considerable improvements - bringing down dykes and building viewing huts. We both love to run, and this is a great place to do it! Along the river it takes about 45 mins to get walk into town, about 10-15 minutes to cycle.
Randers is an old market town, just half an hour from Aarhus and an hour to Aalborg, not to mention easy access to lots of other small towns. Randers is well known for it's rain forest ... a three domed tropical zoo which sits on the riverside in town.
We have two supermarkets within walking distance and, best of all (we think), there is a great bakery just 2 mins walk away ... you can go through the church yard and down a lane and there it is, with fresh rolls and all the danish pastry you could ask for.
We have our own back garden and soon, a door directly out onto the patio, and the driveway is shared with our neighbours as is the washing machine and drying area ... but they are lovely people and the sharing is no problem.

About Us

I moved to Denmark 5 years ago from Scotland, have lived all over the UK and in the USA and have travelled plenty. I ended up here through marrying my Danish husband Bjarne ... he plays violin in the local orchestra. I was a community worker in the UK, still working out what to call myself over here, but at the moment am enjoying maternity leave from whatever my career could be called here in Denmark.

Destination

We have a family wedding in Bangor, N. Ireland September 6th ... if anyone would be interested in a short break to Denmark, we'd love to do a swap then ... apart from that we are open to suggestions!
