Description

Solva Valley Cottage is our holiday home in the Pembrokeshire National Park. It comprises a generous living space with two reception rooms, both with valley views. Set in a deep valley the area is sheltered and surprisingly warm. For more details visit http://www.qualitycottages.co.uk/ref986.htm

Sit down and relax in either the sun room with its French doors onto the garden, comfortable sofa, TV and DVD player, or the cosy sitting room with its log burner and selection of books.

The well equipped kitchen-diner area includes a microwave, freezer and dishwasher. Off the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The spacious bathroom includes full size bath and separate walk-in shower.

Upstairs there is a choice of pretty bedrooms with sloping celings: one double and one twin, both with ample storage. There is an additional under storage bed suitable for a third child. A travel cot is also available.

Outside is an attractive garden set into the valley side with lawns, mature trees and shrubs (toddlers should be supervised owing to different garden levels). There is also a large decked outdoor eating area with barbeque, table and chairs.

There is reserved parking above the property for 1 car (additional parking available in the square), and the cottage is accessed by fifteen stone steps.

Solva Valley Cottage is attached to but totally independent from another holiday cottage (which we also own).

Neighborhood

Summary:
The cottage is situated in a quiet rural setting only one mile away from the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast with its beaches, water activities and coastal footpaths - a perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle!

Location:
Overlooking the square in the tiny hamlet of Middle Mill with its quaint stone bridge and old woollen mill, the property enjoys an impressive outlook across and along the River Solva valley.

A mile down the valley is the attractive harbour village of Solva with its shops, pubs and restaurants. St. David's is just over 3 miles away.

What we love - The Coast
The cottage is situated in the UK's only coastal National Park - and the coast is the main reason to come to Pembrokeshire. You can choose from a number of beautiful, award winning beaches, walks along the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Footpath (totalling over 180 miles in length) and a whole host of water based activities.

What we love - The Culture
The cottage is just 3 miles from St.David's, Europe's smallest city with its 12th century cathedral and equally ancient Bishop's Palace.

Pembrokeshire's spectacular coastal scenery attracts painters from all over the country and there are numerous art galleries, exhibitions and craft shops.

The area is also home to some of Britain's best preserved prehistoric stone circles, and there is a very good Iron Age fort reconstruction nearby.

What we love: The Hills
If you want to get away from it all, you will find peace and utter tranquility in the Preselli Hills. As these hills are open to to the sea air, their atmosphere is very uplifting, and on the right day you can see all the way to Ireland and to Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales over 80 miles away. Walks are suprisingly straightforward as there is a 5,000 year old trackway that runs along the main ridge.

About Us

We are a family of four with two daughters aged 8 and 10. We enjoy the outdoors and spend most of our free time walking, cycling or sitting in cafes soaking up the atmosphere. The children love to swim and surf and enjoy visiting new places.

I am not working at the moment so I try to take the children away as much as I can. Jim works in the field of Marketing and has less spare time. He loves to get away to the hills and the mountains whenever he can.

Away from the summer months we also enjoy taking the children away on city breaks. Last year we visited Berlin.

Destination

Our house is a second home so the exchange can be non-simultaneous and dates can be flexible.

For our summer vacation we would like to go somewhere with outdoor activity opportunities. We like to enjoy the open spaces and we are open to mountain, coastal or rural locations. We love France, Italy and Spain but are also keen to take our children to new places.
