Description

Semi detached family home in lovely riverside village. Our home is full of character with stripped floors, fireplaces and victorian features. From the large rear garden you look out to Dartmoor in the north and to Cornwall in the south. The front and rear gardens also have outstanding views across the River Plym estuary, the marina, the Sound and across to the historic city of Plymouth. We have lawns to the front and rear with well stocked flower beds and a productive vegetable garden with a hen house and three hens. We also have one old cat and two kittens. The house is warm and cosy with a wood burner in the lounge and central heating throughout. It is a family home stuffed with photos, paintings, music and books. The reception rooms are large and light with comfy furniture. We have four bedrooms all with fantasic views. There are numerous places to sit and enjoy the garden and watch the ever changing river activities.

Neighborhood

Turnchapel is a small village across the river from the city of Plymouth. It maintains a village 'feel' whilst being only a three mile drive from the city centre. It is situated on a spit of land surrounded on three sides by water and is a centre for sailing, canoeing and other water sports. The house overlooks a marina and is an ideal base for any watersport enthusiast. The village has two traditional riverside pubs/restaurants within 200m and there are numerous other restaurants and pubs within walking distance. We have great neighbours and the village hosts a variety of community events in the small square. We are situated on the South-West Coast Path which runs 635 miles around the coast of Devon, Cornwall and Dorset. We are ideally situated to explore the 365 square miles of wild Dartmoor (10miles), the beautiful surfing beaches of Cornwall (10miles) and North Devon (35miles) or the picturesque and 'very English' villages and coastline of the South Hams (5miles). We are near to all amenities with Plymstock being our nearest major shopping area with supermarkets, a library and a range of shops. Plymouth is a historic maritime city with a population of approx 275K. It can be reached easily by car, foot ferry or bus. It is a thriving city with great amenities, good schools, a huge shopping centre, riverside restaurants and bars in the famous Barbican area and awesome views from the Hoe. Plymouth is three hours by train from central London or 40min flight from the local airport.

About Us

I work for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and my role is assessing the risk of harm adults present to children and delivering treatment to those adults to reduce the harm. I am a Probation Officer by trade. My wife Polly is a trained child protection social worker and is currently a self employed Guardian Ad Litum, representing children in care proceedings. We have two daughters, Lily who is currently finishing her A-Levels this year and then planning to travel and Erin who is still at school and taking GCSE's next year. We all enjoy outdoor activities and spend much time as possible on the local beaches or the moors or in our garden. I play as much tennis as I can and Polly is a keen runner.
