Description

The house was previously a holiday 'bach' (kiwi word for holiday cottage), so perfect for a vacation. It comprises of the main house with 1 double bedroom and 2 separate buildings of a double bedroom (the sleepout) and a twin room (the shed).
The house is weatherboard and very traditional with a polished rimu wood floor throughout the main house, it was built in 1950 and has lots of character features like a kitchen range and an open fireplace.
It has a fantastic indoor/outdoor flow, so perfect for outdoor parties and BBQs and a large grass area for children to run around in.
It is a dry, bright and sunny home with a modern bathroom and kitchen.
Every property on the island uses tank water and has a septic tank, this is not a problem as water can be delivered if the tank runs dry during summer months (this has not happened to me yet). It is a really lovely home which is just a 35min ferry journey to downtown Auckland and the gateway to the rest of New Zealand.

Neighborhood

Just 2 streets down from the main village shops on the island. A bus stop for the ferry or other suberbs of Waiheke is 2 mins from the front door. The famous Mudbrick vineyard is 5mins drive or a 20min walk up the hill which has amazing views of the island, Rangitoto volcanic island and back to the city.
The neighbours are lovely and there are 3 chickens (no cockerel) and children living in the house behind.
Waiheke Island is a home to artists and people who like an alternative lifestyle. It is also well known for it's fantastic vineyards like Mudbrick, Stoneyridge and Cable Bay, olive groves and art exibitions.

About Us

The property can sleep 4 Adults and 2 children comfortably with 2 double beds and 2 singles. I would like to find equivalent house swaps around the world that I can meet up with my family (5 of us in total) or that a friend and I can stay in (2 of us).

Destination

I'm keen to find a house swap in Japan for some time around August for a friend and myself, time is flexible.
There one elderly cat with the property which will be staying while I'm away, so please, only cat lovers need apply, more details can be given, she is a healthy, small and a very pretty silver tabby.
