Description

I have a charming one-bedroom two-story apartment just 4 blocks from centro and the jardin in San Miguel de Allende.

This is not an up-scale apartment (there are many high-end vacation rentals in this town) but is truly a home. It is very comfortable, painted in bright Mexican colors, and decorated with much whimsy.

It's small - but not tiny - and having the bedroom and bath on the second level adds to the feeling of spaciousness.

It has a private plant-filled patio with both sun and shade. Hi-speed Internet (bring your laptop), cable, and maid-service three times/week. There are many Internet cafes so it's not necessary to bring a computer.

Located in a highly-desirable location, the apartment is quiet and secure.

** I do have two small dogs - I am open to a pet-exchange (NOT required) - my dogs will not be here during the exchange - but please note that dogs do live here in case of allergies, etc. **

Neighborhood

San Miguel de Allende is about 80,000 people. I never drive here -- it's a town for walking. A taxi within centro is 20 pesos ($2)

The apartment is close to both the artesana market and the Ignacio Ramirez market where you can buy fresh pineapple, papayas or eat a taco or gordita from a street vendor.

My favorite thing to do here is to visit the Tiangus - a 4-acre no-holds-barred buy-anything-you-might-ever-think-of market that takes place every Tuesday. Fresh grilled shrimp for $4/dozen, tacos and carnitas (pork) are all great for breakfast or lunch ... or both!

San Miguel is a colonial town four hours north of Mexico City favored by ex-pats because of the weather and artists because of the clear light. By air, you arrive at Mexico City or Leon (BJX) and take a shuttle or bus from the Leon airport.

San Miguel is a major travel destination because of the well-preserved colonial architecture in the historic centro. To protect its charm, the Mexican government has declared the entire town a national monument. Google San Miguel de Allende for more information.

Come discover the charms of colonial Mexico. Bask in the sunshine, wander the cobblestone streets and alleys, enjoy a gourmet meal from a roof-top patio or the best beef tacos south of the border at my favorite street stand. (Local knowledge comes with the exchange!)

About Us

I generally travel alone. I am willing to do a pet-exchange, but it's optional. My dogs will be with friends if you choose to exchange.

I'm Canadian but have been elsewhere for some time. I speak english, french and functional spanish.

I'm a writer, well-travelled, and enjoy meeting new people.

Destination

I must be in San Diego April 18-20th. Would like to stay several days before and/or after that weekend.

Exchange does not need to be simultaneous.

Open to other exchanges - almost anywhere - from mid-May to September 2008.
