Description

The home is situated in a small village of 350 souls with the boulangerie, epicerie & bar. The 11th century church & 17th century chateau are classified monuments. The house is an old Charentaise modernised whilst maintaining the style, the large garden is a small tresure of cherry, plum & apples, blackberries & beautiful flowers; the surrounding area is vineyards & old stone buildings & churches. If you want sun, old stones & not too far from the beach this is where you need to go. Beautiful surrounding towns such as Saintes, St Jean d'Angley; Rochefort & La Rochelle, not forgeting the famouse Ile de Re & Oleron with long sandy beaches & blazing sun!! The house has a full modern kitchen bathroom with walk in shower; 3 beds; dining room; lounge & back kitchen. Our cat would be pleased to welcome you as she loves visitors & children.

Neighborhood

If you want sun, old stones & not too far from the beach this is where you need to go. Beautiful surrounding towns such as Saintes, St Jean d'Angley; Rochefort & La Rochelle, not forgeting the famouse Ile de Re & Oleron with long sandy beaches & blazing sun!! The beauty of this part of France is next to none, the brits are here in quantity so you may find them in the local markets & towns shopping & discussing their latest acquistions. However this is France of Cognac, Pineau & wines; serious business strictly for wine & cognac lovers. We are 20 mins from Cognac, 1 hour from La Rochelle; 45 mins from Rochefort & 25 mins from Saintes. You can play tennis at the local modern tennis court, bike around the countryside, walk ; boat on the river & visit the beaches.

About Us

Arrived in this area a year ago , we really love it. This for me is the Garden of Eden in France the easiest place to live in the world! We are in our 50's & 60's & love traveling to places with original charm. We are looking for authentic places with real character & prefer the country to the town. We enjoy the olives, oranges, & vineyards of the world .

Destination

the dates are flexible, we are willing to swap for a longer period also. We would like to exchange with the people about geography & setting of the home we will share. Concerning our home we are planning to build a swimming pool end of this year or early 2009.
