Description

The apartment that we are offering is a spacious flat with lots of sunlight. It is comfortable and tastefully done: simple and elegant would best describe our home style-with beautiful art and books and carefully chosen handi- crafts.

It is also a haven to step into after the frenetic energy on the streets of Calcutta.

The flat is on the 5th floor of a 10 storied building. We have 2 elevators.

We have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully functional kitchen, a verandah which we use as our dining space, a living room and a den where we have our music, books, TV and such. There is a woman who comes to clean every day. We have a washer dryer in the flat.

This apt. is on offer for April- May 2008.

If you choose to come at a later date, we have another flat adjacent to this one, which is the same. It has the same facilties and space- without a TV and AC.

Neighborhood

The neighborhood is considered 'up market'. It is a residential one with 3 schools in the vicinity.We are close to convenience stores, grocery markets, art galleries, a theatre and cultural center,a very good internet center and a few restuarants and fast food places. We also boast of having one of the best local sweet shops in the city!

It is well connected to all modes of transportation that the city offers: buses, taxis, auto rickshaw and the Tram. However, the metro is not at a walking distance.

As far as urban centers in India go, it is a quiet neighborhood!

About Us

I am an artist based in calcutta, India. I am looking specifically for a housing swap with somebody in New York City. I am getting married in New York City in April ,and am keen to house my parents who are in their late 50's and my brother who is 28 ( a practising lawyer ) in a comfortable apt. in NYC.

I will be staying with my fiance and his house - mates, as is the typical NY situation, for a few months. We do not have the space to house my parents and brother on their 10 day visit in April 2008.

This is my families first visit to NYC and I think it would be ideal for them to stay in Manhattan,Brooklyn or Jersey City where they can get a feel of the city, and be flexible in terms of movement.

Destination

We have New York City in mind. Manhattan,Brooklyn. Even Jersey City.

This can be a non simultaneous exchange, as the person/ people interested in coming to Calcutta can come at an earlier or later date from when we plan to travel.

However, please note, that if your vacation does not correspond with ours, we have another apratment adjecent to ours, which is similar is size and tastes which we will then offer you. We are also flexible with the number of days you would like to stay. You are welcome to stay longer than the days we stay in your home.
