Neighborhood

Leander House sits in the historic district of Great Barrington, Massachusetts in the heart of the desirable Berkshire Mountain region of New England. The Berkshires is an artistic and cultural center, attracting many who want a slower-paced cultural American experience to others who have summered here for generations. Leander House is neighbored by other well-groomed historic New England homes and is within a 5-minute walk to the center of the village. Home to quaint shops, award winning restaurants, café’s, coffee shops, gourmet food shops, Lake Mansfield, historic churches, and several theater and arts center’s, Great Barrington is a quintessential New England village. It is also within a short drive to Tanglewood, one of America’s premiere classical music centers, Jacob’s Pillow dance center, and entry points to the acclaimed Appalachian Trial and many other hiking, biking and ski trails.

From Great Barrington, you have relatively easy access to New York City, Boston and the seaside. All can be reached in about 2 ½ hours and make for a comfortable day or weekend trip. Also accessible without too much trouble is the Adirondack mountain and Lake District, the Hudson River Valley, and other regional amenities. I have not been there myself, but for those of you that may enjoy the casino life, you may consider a day trip to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods. Both casino resorts offering spas and entertainment obviously along with gambling. Here are some links to browse:
