Description

Our house is a large, 5 bedroom, open and contemporary house with lots of glass, skylights, and with conservation land and several big decks at the back of the house. We have all the amenities, including two TVs, several CD players, DVD player, modern kitchen, two pianos and more. We also have several bicycles we could lend, as well as a car.

Neighborhood

Our suburb, Needham, is ideally located for exploring Boston (20 minutes by car to the city center--or take the train, which is up the street from us) or for going out into the country. Needham itself has many good restaurants, several supermarkets, video rental, parks, playgrounds, tennis and public pool--however, the real reason to come here is to be able to explore Boston (history, museums, music, old neighborhoods, beautiful waterfront and harbor) as well as other areas such as the whaling towns on Cape Ann (Rockport, Newburyport, Gloucester, etc), Salem (Peabody Essex Museum with a Chinese house brought from China and reassembled, Witch Museum, etc), Plimoth Plantation, DeCordova museum of contemporary art and sculpture park, Walden Pond, Gropius House, Concord and the Freedom Trail and SO MUCH MORE.

About Us

Matt is the Director of Research Computing at Dana Farber Cancer institute, an avid bicyclist and motorcyclist--his main hobby is music of all kinds. Nancy imports saddles and loves horseback riding and reading; she is now also a docent at an art museum (in the past she studied and taught design). 24 year old Alex is a composer who lives in New York City; 19 year old Anna is in college studying nursing. The house is filled with CDs and books and art from all over the world, reflecting our interests. We are experienced exchangers, having done about 20 in the past 13 years, both domestic and international. We would travel either as a couple or possibly at times with our children.

Destination

We have already planned four exchanges in 2008 but are open to short two-three day swaps to Manhattan. Please, Manhattanites, understand that there is MUCH to do in the areas around Boston---wonderful museums, antique villages, much history and natural beauty. Not everything is in the center of town! Because our son lives in NY, we are interested in short swaps anytime.

For 2009, we're open to any suggestions.
