Small cottage type home with two gas fireplaces.. Hot-tub, BBQ and outdoor living room on large privacy fenced elevated back deck. Living room with fire-place, kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms and sun-room (for morning coffee and newspaper reading) on lst floor. Full apartment in home accessed by stairs off 1st floor kitchen or sunroom via back door. Apartment is used by owners as master-suite and has its own kitchen, living room with gas fireplace, bedroom (futon double bed) and bathroom. First floor living room has sleeper/couch, lst bedroom has double bed, 2nd bedroom has trundle bed. Hardwood floors on lst floor and laminate floors/carpeting on apartment level. Washer, dryer and dishwasher on apartment floor level. Home is in very desirable and safe area of city nestled between Wellington and Westboro villages. Walking west you can walk to coffee and gift shops in Westboro village. Walking east you can get the best bagels in town, shop for antiques, purchase fresh vegetables at the Parkdale outdoor market, or eat on the patio of a restaurant in Wellington village. Downtown pursuits and nature-walks are available through national capital river front paths three blocks from home. You can walk or take a bike (one bike provided with exchange many bicycle rental sites in city) via national parkland paths to downtown area or swim/dine at nearby Westboro beach. The Ottawa Canada location is expecially desirable during our tulip festival in spring, on the Canada Day holiday on July 1st, jazz/folk/blues/chamber music festivals during the summer and fall colour tours in September. Beautiful organic perennial gardens surround front and back of home. Home exchange includes use of owner's wooded lot (with short walk to Lake Bernard) for Canadian camping experience in Gatineau hills. Forty minute drive from home to camp lot. For winter enthusiasts, ski trips via 30 minute drive to nearest slope and many miles of canal to skate during our Winterlude winter festival

Neighborhood

Residental neighbourhood with access to Westboro village and within walking distance of Canada's parliament buildings and national park land on river.
You don't need to drive you could see the sights of city and villages by bringing your bike or you could take city bus. The city bus stop is 1/2 block from the house. Very safe neighbourhood. Walk down to river to watch the sunsets or fireworks during Canada Day celebrations July 1st. Westboro village (4 blocks from home) has arts and music festival in July with many activities for children and adults. Fenced yard for pet. Two hour drive to Montreal, 4 hours to Toronto. Tour buses to New York city and thousand islands from Ottawa. One or two adults could consider using apartment only if full exchange with home owner not possible.

About Us

Professional couple, husband retired horticulturist, wife still working as social worker. Organic gardening and therapeutic pet training as hobbies. Very pet/child, walking tour friendly neighbourhood.

Home has separate apartment. Rental of apartment can be arranged if exchange with owner not possible.
