Description

Basic but bright, spacious apartment (59 sq.m) in Rouen, Normandy. Two minutes walk to banks of river Seine, to restaurants and theatre and to where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake! Five minutes to shops and to 'Monet's cathedral', ten minutes to train station (direct line to Paris, 75 mins).
There is a galley kitchen with fridge, freezer, tableware, cooking utensils, hob and oven; living room with dining table and sofa-bed; double bedroom; bathroom with bath & shower; luggage storage area and small office. As the apartment is only occasionally occupied it doesn't have phone line, tv, internet or dishwasher...it's very simple! But clean, comfortable and convenient, overlooking a small courtyard, with security guard/concierge.

Neighborhood

Rouen is a walkable and historic town just over an hour's drive from the coast at Dieppe, from Roissy airport and from Monet's gardens at Giverny. Normandy's WWII landing beaches are a three-hour drive. The apartment is in a modern block but near the medieval quarter with its timbered old houses. Flaubert and Corneille lived here and Victor Hugo's house is just down the river at Villequier. Some excellent restaurants, including Gill, are within easy walking distance, as are the local daily food market and municpal swimming pool. There are lots of lovely little French market villages within half an hour by car. Rouen is a good base for a combined urban/rural holiday.

About Us

I'm a writer, speak French, no kids, no pets, occasional smoker but not indoors! A car swop could be good and free municipal parking is available in Rouen, 5 minute away by bus.

Destination

I would like to visit a quiet Greek beach area during September, the further south the better (Crete, Rhodes...etc.) My apartment in Rouen, France is available anytime during August or September.
