Description

This is our second home in the Tarn et Garonne and so the exchange need not be simultaneous. We live in London and this lovely old house and location gives us the tranquility we need. There are four bedrooms - all ensuite. The house is situated in a small hamlet overlooking a valley and nestles between the garden and pool to the rear and steeply sloping woodland to the front. The lounge/dining room measures 12 x 5 metres and features a fine chimney breast with wood burning stove, stone sink and handsome open staircase. There is a dining table seating eight. The kitchen is well equipped and features exposed beams fine dry stone wall and chimney breast with wood burning stove. There is a table that seats 6. The salt water pool is 8 x 5 metres and is equipped with automatic pool cleaner, re-fill and bubble cover. It is surrounded by a safety fence and self locking gate. We have French neighbours close by - all good friends. There are two balconies over the view - one for the early morning cup of tea and stargazing and the other ideal for lunch for four. There is a large terrace facing the pool and garden.

Neighborhood

This is rural France. You will not find sophisticated restaurants, nightclubs and theatres. You WILL find fantastic organic produce at the local markets, wine regions to discover - that of Cahor and Gaillac. There are many interesting bastides to visit - notably Najac, Cordes, Bruniquel and Penne. Albi is worth a visit for the sight of its monumental cathedral and childhood home of Toulouse Lautrec. Throughout July and August there are agricultural and musical fetes, firework displays, antiques fairs and Son et Lumiere productions. The nearby Aveyron Gorge provides outdoor sports. We have enjoyed many walks in the immediate area, in the Foret de Gresigne and the Aveyron Gorge. The canoeing has been the source of much amusement!

About Us

We live in South London where Robert my husband is a General Practitioner. He hopes to retire in the next five years - hence the desire to find suitable house swaps as we will have time to travel further afield and for longer trips. I was an actress before having my two children Poppy and Sam- now in their twenties and having flown the nest. My command of the French language is limited to all the vocabulary of house restoration but my neighbours mange to understand most of what I say with a lot of arm waving!
