Description

Situated in the countryside, but only ten minutes drive from the town of Miltown Malbay with all amenities and beautiful beaches, our traditional stone cottage has a solid fuel range in the main living/dining room, a kitchenette, a bathroom with bath and shower, a study/lounge with sofa bed for guests, and three bedrooms, two upstairs and one downstairs (with double bed). There's a trampoline and basketball in the garden, and some herbs and vegetables



Neighborhood

The neighbourhood is rural without being isolated, as there are several houses within walking distance, and friendly neighbours. There are walks to woods, bog, lakes and Mount Callan and stunning views of the Atlantic, North Clare, the Aran islands and mountains.
Ten minutes away is the town of Miltown Malbay with shops, pubs with traditional music, library and restaurants. There are also two lovely beaches: Spanish Point which is great for surfing and White Strand a more sheltered beach with a coastal walk. The larger town of Ennis is half an hour by car.
It is an ideal spot to explore the west coast: the Burren to the north, the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin where there is a daily ferry to the Aran Islands. To the south there is the seaside village of Kilkee with fabulous cliff walk, and the ferry to Kerry.
During the summer there are plenty of activites including surfing classes in Spanish Point and Lahinch, golf, horseriding and Traditional Irish Music festivals.
the city of Limerick is 1 hour away and Galway is 1hour 30mins drive away

About Us

My name is Maolíosa (pronounced Ma-lisa) and I have two daughters: Rose aged 14 and Caoimhe aged 11. Together with Snowy, our cat, we are an all-female household. I teach Irish in a local Secondary school, and speak Irish to my girls (Rose is going to an Irish-speaking secondary school). Je parle aussi francais, español et allemand. I like music, dance, film, theatre, art, writing and walking. I am trying to learn the guitar and I also love singing and can sing old Irish songs. I love meeting interesting and fun-loving people and now that my girls are at a good age we want to travel to interesting places. I have an interest in environmental issues and alternative energy, and have done some journalism.
