Offering a beautiful, deluxe, fully complete second home in Western North Carolina for your commensurate accommodations at the beach, Western U.S., New Orleans, London, Ireland, Italy or? The view from the deck is a spectacular 30 mile view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The chalet is fully complete with everything you need, just bring groceries! Close to whitewater rafting, golf, fishing, and lots of sightseeing. Located two hours north of Atlanta and an hour and fifiteen minutes from Chattanooga. It is in a weekly rental program, so not all weeks may be available for a home exchange, but this also means non-simultaneous exchanges are possible.

Neighborhood

Located near the top of Shuler Mountain in Ranger, NC, the chalet it is 15 minutes from downtown Murphy, NC. There are eight similar chalets in the neighborhood on this mountain top. The closest neighbor is 150 feet away and only occasionally occupied, so this chalet is quiet and peaceful. My kids named the chalet Gobblers' Knob Lodge because of the wild turkeys that dwell on the mountain. The view from the spacious deck is truly wonderful. It's a great place to chill and get away from the world, or spend your days whitewater rafting on the Ocoee and Nantahala Rivers, playing golf, or exploring mountain towns in North Carolina and north Georgia.

About Us

I am a marketing executive in the tourism industry. My hobbyies include flying (private pilot), antique car restoration (currently I own a '56 MGA) music and travel.

Destination

This can be a non-simultaneous exchange.

Abundant recreational opportunities are within a few minutes drive of the chalet. Hiawassee Recreational Area is minutes away. Nantahala Gorge and Ocoee River Recreational Areas offer white water kayaking and rafting just 45 and 15 minutes away, respectively. Whether you seek a round of golf, boating, fishing or hiking park trails, it's all here. Quaint antique stores, mountain craft purveyors and great restaurants are located in and around Murphy.

Nearby Lakes

Hiwassee, Chatuge, Appalachia and Cherokee are nearby mountain lakes perfect for boating, fishing, swimming and waterskiing. All are a short drive away and many have marinas providing boat rentals, fishing supplies, and ramps for launching boats.

Hike in the Forests

The Nantahala National Forest is very close by and offers hiking, camping, backpacking, trout fishing and picnicking. You can also access the Appalachian Trail nearby.

Golf

Cherokee Hills Golf Club is located 20 minutes from the chalet.
Chatuge Shores Golf Course, is 30 minutes away in Hayesville, NC.
Eagle Greens Golf Course is also in Hayesville.

John C. Campbell Folk School

The John C. Campbell Folk School was established in 1925 by Olive Dame Campbell and Marguerite Butler and named for Mrs. Campbell's husband. More than 75 years later it is still an important part of the community, teaching the arts and crafts of Appalachia. Many people, locally, and from around the world, gather at the Folk School for classes, workshops, dances, concerts and other activities.

Day Trips

Quaint mountain towns, a full casino, Smoky Mountain National Park, train rides through the mountains, and remarkable mountain drives all make great day trips from the chalet.
