Description

The flat is on the middle floor of a 3 storey, purpose built block which contains 6 flats in total. It has recently been fully refurbished and is decorated to a high standard in a contemporary syle. There is a modern kitchen, bathroom and solid oak flooring throughout. There are 2 double bedrooms (both with double beds), one bathroom and a 21' living/dining room. There is also a balcony overlooking a communal garden.

The flat is on a small development on a quiet road.

There is a TV, DVD player, microwave, washing machine, broadband internet and stereo.

It takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the station where trains run approximately every 10 minutes into Central London.

Neighborhood

I live in a leafy but busy suburb of London, just 20 minute train ride from the centre in what is known as 'Zone 3' for public transport. It is close to the historic Victorian site of Crystal Palace where there is a large park which contains the first full size models of dinosaurs ever made (an interesting curiosity!). There is also some beautiful woodland within walking distance with fantastic views across the city.

The area is not wealthy but everyone is friendly and there is a large community of actors/artists/musicians living in the area. It has recently been noted as a particularly up-and-coming area with house prices rocketing and the extension of the London Underground network due to open in 2010.

There are a few good cafes/restaurants including a really excellent Nepalese restaurant, with more options available in neighbouring areas Crystal Palace and Dulwich.

Getting out of London is easy - trains run into Surrey and Kent, with easy connections to Gatwick Airport and coastal areas such as Brighton.

About Us

I am a professional musician. I have a fantastic professor in New York who I have now visited 4 times to study intensively with. I have visited for a week to 10 days at time in the past. I am hoping to find a home swap that would allow me to visit New York again at any point during the year and can be fairly flexible about how long I go for. I would also be interested in any other locations that would involve a holiday!

I love to travel and am also interested in art, cinema, books and, of course, music. I am a classical musician but my tastes are fairly eclectic. I love to cook and though my kitchen is fairly compact, it is well kitted out with accessories and gadgets.

I have lived in London for about 15 years now and consider it to be my home. I love this area as it is a little more relaxed than many other areas but still close enough to the centre for it not to feel isolated.

Destination

New York City is my priority but am also interested in other areas.

Dates and duration are flexible, work permitting.
