Description

Maison de famille.. 3 bedrooms, 1960's Home with office, sep. W.C. sep shower, sep. bath bath, organic garden (approx. 1000m2) pond, 2 cars, double carport, set in semi-rural suburbia. We are next to Waitakere Regional Park, in Eco City (a.k.a. Waitakere City)
Fully furnished with extensive non-fiction library including books on world travel, NZ, ESOL, children's books, digital satellite TV, DVD player, bicycles, toys for 5 years and under. Broadband internet, no cell phone microwaves. (Can install a booster if you need this)

There is a self-contained caretaker's separate studio flat below the house with a resident to do garden maintenance.
We have a neutered female cat, Cleo, who must stay, or the mice will move in. We have 3 chickens ( the caretaker will look after these unless the swapper wants to collect the organic eggs..)
I hope to have our solar water heater installed shortly.
There is a wood-burning stove in the livingroom.
We now have an exchange arranged for 6 months or more from Dec. '08, but looking for approx. 2 or 3 or 4 months exchange prior to that.

Neighborhood

There are bush tracks and large areas of forest right here, clean air from the prevailing S.W. wind.
Location is handy for Primary School and 2.5 km. from Steiner School, 25 mins walk or 3 mins drive to Titirangi Village (supermarket, restuarants, cafes, free library & internet, theatre, art gallery, post office, real estate agencies, doctor, etc. etc.)
See
http://www.waitakere.govt.nz/VisWai/index.asp for some info.
We also have a tres simple house in Thailand (with air conditioning!!) which can be included and available for holidays. This is in a remote, rural village where you will be the only etranger for many miles.

About Us

I am a environmental design and research prof., trained as an architect at Edinburgh University, with many years building restoration and rehabilitation experience, specializing in self-sufficiency (autonomous or "green" design) retro-fitting and maintenance. Also a pert-time ESOL tutor.

My partner is a trained reflexologist with strong interest, training and experience in Thai cooking and meditation.
We have a son born 01/01/04.

We are looking for a long term (up to 1 year) exchange for a house in France.

In case I don't find a swap, I am also looking for a house to rent/housemind/maintain. Will pay normal running costs plus. Perigord or Southwards preferred.
NOTE.
We now have an exchange arranged for 6 months or more from Dec. '08, but looking for approx. 2 or 3 or 4 months exchange prior to that.

Destination

We are moving permanently to the Dordogne area or nearby, but we can consider outside that area. So this might suit someone considering immigrating to New Zealand, or someone on a year's sabatical or otherwise looking for an extended stay.
Dates are flexible, except...
We now have an exchange arranged for 6 months or more from Dec. '08, but looking for approx. 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 months exchange prior to that, and then possibly another exchange after the one already arranged.
