Description

I have a lovely, freshly repainted 1-bedroom apartment in the middle of Paris (3d arrondissement) with 11' ceilings. The living room is carpeted, has two pianos (one is a vintage Steinway grand), stereo, CD's, fold-out sofa-bed, double-glazed windows and dining table. The bedroom has a queen-size loft bed, work area with eMac, high-speed Internet connection with free phone calls to 70 countries and 150 tv stations, fax, scanner/printer/Xerox. Small but functional and fully equipped kitchen, small bathroom with shower and washer-dryer. Quiet building with nice and helpful neighbors. Bicycle available. Good shopping nearby and within walking distance to almost everything of interest in Paris.

Neighborhood

As mentioned above, the neighborhood is very central (10 minutes to the Marais and Pompidou center, 15 to Les Halles and Notre Dame, 20 to the Opera and Notre Dame). Two subway lines around the corner, several bus lines. Good shopping (markets and supermarkets) just a few blocks away.

About Us

I'm a 58-year old American ex-patriate concert pianist, living in Paris since 1977. Have travelled to many countries and absorbed several different cultures and languages.
I will be travelling alone.

Destination

I need to be in New York for family reasons from 11 to 21 April 2008. I definitely want to be in Manhattan and would very much like to have a piano, though that's not essential. Preferred neighborhoods: West Village, Chelsea, Tribeca, East Village, Gramercy Park, Midtown west, UWS, more or less in that order. Would like some quiet.
Dates are not flexible, a non-simultaneous exchange might be possible (I'm away from 2 to 11 March as well) but not sure just when.
