Description

We are quietly situated in a cul-de-sac with access through the garden on to heathland – many acres of good walking country. The house is modern, spacious and charming, furnished and decorated to a high standard. On the upper floor there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with jacuzzi, a sauna, and a study. Downstairs are two sitting rooms, dining room, kitchen, cloak and laundry rooms, etc. Lift to the upper floor. A patio borders the south-facing garden, with BBQ and gazebo. All modern appliances are provided, including satellite television in most rooms, dishwasher, microwave oven, cooker and hob, clothes washer, dryer, hi-fi, video and DVD player. Computer with unlimited broadband access. The house is centrally heated and a gardener attends periodically. A 2007 VW Golf 1.6 automatic car and three bicycles are available for your use.

Neighborhood

Local shops are close to hand while our village of Broadstone has shops, pubs and restaurants, with a sports centre and heated indoor swimming pool. A short bus ride takes you into Poole or Bournemouth, where there is a larger selection of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions, and five yacht clubs, with ten golf courses within 30 minutes drive.
Close to home are a number of beautiful safe beaches, picturesque villages each with thatched cottages, historic churches and the local “pub”, plus lovely walks along the Purbeck Hills and England’s south-coastal-path.
Poole is a favoured spot both as a holiday and touring base. Poole Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world, is centrally positioned on the south coast of England. It is adjacent to Bournemouth which offers a greater range of facilities including concert halls and branches of some of London’s shopping stores. Poole provides access to historic towns and cities (Bath, Salisbury, Portsmouth, Winchester, Blandford Forum, Wareham), stately homes and castles (Broadlands, Stour head, Montacute, Corfe Castle, Osborne House), together with cultural sites such as Stonehenge, Hardy’s Cottage and several cathedrals and museums. Within easy reach are London (2 ½ hours by train or car), Cherbourg, France (4 hours by ferry, quicker by hydrofoil), Channel Isles (hydrofoil or half hour flight from Bournemouth) and drives to the New Forest, Isle of Wight, Dartmoor, the West Country (Devon and Cornwall), the Cotswolds, Shakespeare’s Stratford and Wales.

About Us

Now retired, I was a naval aviator prior to becoming a pilot with B.O.A.C./British Airways for 32 years, so have visited most parts of the world, but often not for long enough to know them well. Sue, formerly a medical administrator, has now also retired. Our children are settled and living in Creekmore and Spain. We enjoy sports, including particularly sailing and badminton, walking the surrounding countryside – and overseas holidays! We have the shared use of a 39 foot sailing yacht, and our smaller one for local racing. We are non-smokers.

Destination

We are a couple looking for a simultaneous exchange, quite flexible as to region, dates and length of stay. We have completed many exchanges in the past, all with great success. (Referencies available). We are non-smokers. Ideally we would like an exchange property within easy reach (say 10 mins walk, 15 mile drive ) of beaches and the ocean/lakeside. Thanks for your attention.
