Description

Our house is a big Alsatian house, built over 100 years ago, totally renovated in 2000. 3 bedrooms, one playroom (or 4th bedroom), 2 bathrooms, 3 toilettes, wooden floors, chimney, full equipped kitchen with "Thermomix", piano, Internet, etc. We have a nice big enclosed garden with parking. For kids ther is everything they like: playground, tipi, juge trampoline, bicycles, Dinocar (carting), Bobbycar for the smaller ones, a special playroom, etc. My kids are now 5, 7 and 10, but the house is still equipped with everything a baby or small child would need (even cloths). If desired: cleaning person, ironing and very nice babysitter.


Neighborhood

We live in a small village in Alsace: 900 habitants, very calm, 150 meters from the house there is a bakery store with very good baguettes. Inside the village and in the villages around there are always small but nice local fests in summer. Our house is perfectly situated: 30 minutes to the north: Strasburg. 30 minutes to the south: Colmar. 15 minutes to the river Rhein, this is the border between France and Germany. On the Rhein you can make lovely boot cruises. 20 minutes from the "Europa-Park", the German Disneyland, 30 minutes to the east: Freeburg in Germany (Black Forest). And one hour to the south: Basel in Switzerland. With the new high speed train TGV leaving from Strasbourg you are in Paris in 2 hours. Isn't that nice?
The people in the villages speak French and German. But I have friends around here who speak fluently English. They would help and show you around if wanted. From my house lots of nice walks can be started. If you like the mountains: 30 minutes (by car) to the west the Vogues stars with beautiful walks to do and very good cheese to taste.

About Us

I'm German, 38 years old and live in France. I'm a German teacher and don't smoke. I have three kids (10, 7 and 5 years old). My kids speak fluently German and French. They do know some words and phrases in English and I would love to give them the opportunity to learn some more. That's the idea about spending our holydays in Great Britain, Ireland, Malta or wherever they speak English. We love the water and would like to be on the seaside. But other places will be fine, especially when there are kids in the neighbourhood. For a longer stay we prefer the country site or villages and if possible a place where kids usually live (toys, games, bicycles, etc.) But for short stays we although like big cities where we can sightsee and visit the museums, opera, etc. For that purpose an apartment just to sleep over would do. For some days we would like to go to Paris, as well. Just fort he weekend will be fine for us as well if we can get there in about two hours by car or train, which means France, Germany or Switzerland. You can always contact us “last minute”.

Destination

In summer we have almost 2 month vacation (July and August). With my kids I would love to leave for 3 weeks, even more if possible (up to 2 month in summer). But we are open during the year. Just contact me if you would like to get to know our region. We can also loge peoples in our house when we are here. And we don’t mind staying with somebody. I mean the exchange doesn’t have to be simultaneous. We love to take off just for a weekend as well. My kids are very cool, they like knew environments and adapted themselves easily.
