Description

We live in a light and airy detached bungalow, in the beautiful village of Northam, near Bideford. The bungalow is set in a large private garden in a small close of similar bungalows (not on an estate!). There are lovely sea and estuary views from the rear. There are three double bedrooms, one with a king size Tempur bed, one with a double bed and one with a single bed with further single bed under. There is a south-facing lounge, large very modern kitchen with lovely views, dining room, also with views and a small but immaculate bathroom with bath (high-powered shower over), wash basin and w.c. The floors are varnished wood with rugs, except for the hall and kitchen which are tiled.

The A39 which runs straight down to Cornwall is only about a mile away and the lovely town of Bideford, set on the river, is about 2 miles. The coast at Westward Ho! is just down the road. Barnstaple is about a 15 minute drive. Breathtaking scenery is to be found in every direction.

Neighborhood

We live in a very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. Because we live in a close, there is no passing traffic apart from people in the close. The neighbours are very helpful and friendly, mostly retired. It is a short walk to the bus stop with regular buses into Barnstaple and Bideford, etc. Just round the corner is the doctor's surgery and a dental surgery. Bideford has a small hospital. There is an excellent large hospital in Barnstaple with A & E facilities. For walkers, the Tarka trail is easily accessible and stretches for miles. Indeed, the whole general area is a walker's paradise, including beautiful coastal walks.

About Us

My husband and I are both retired, aged 64 and 63 respectively. My husband is a very keen gardener and is interested in classic motorbikes - indeed he has just rebuilt a 1955 Ariel bike from a pile of metal into a gleaming beauty, a labour of love, indeed! We both enjoy walking and reading. We have three children, all flown the nest now! Two grandchildren. One daughter and son live in the New Forest about 150 miles from us and our eldest daughter lives in Bideford, only about 2 miles away, with her husband and son.

Destination

The exchange dates given are totally flexible. By and large, we are ready to go anywhere and at any time! We be particularly interested in a relatively long exchange with someone in New Zealand as this is at the top of our retirees' wish list.
