Description

Our home is light, comfortable and very peaceful, on three floors.On the ground level is a pleasant living room with sofas, wood burning stove and a large dining table. There's an adjoining bright modern kitchen. Also on this floor is an attractive sun room and small sewing room.Outside is a roofed terrace where we eat in summer. Upstairs are two bedrooms, WC and small bathroom. Downstairs are two more bedrooms and a bathroom with WC and shower. The garden is grassed with several trees.Our house is clean and cozy, with lots of books, English and French, as well as English satellite TV.

Neighborhood

The house is within walking distance of a lovely little market town/village, where you'll find a cinema, post office and banks as well as a wide range of small individual shops. There are also two supermarkets. We are in the countryside,where there is good walking with marked walking paths. Although rural, there is plenty to do, especially if you enjoy walking, swimming, canoeing, cycling or just exploring the lovely surrounding countryside with its quaint stone villages. The Dordogne valley is a short drive away and the attractive city of Toulouse is an hour away by car or train. There is a bus service to Cahors, our nearest town, where as well as medieval streets to explore, there is a train station, with mainline services to Paris, Toulouse etc if you want to go further afield.

About Us

Hello! I am Sheila and my husband is Daniel,and we're a French/English couple in our early 60's. I teach and Daniel is a cabinet maker. We've lived here for over thirty years, and have four adult children. We have done six very happy house exchanges, visiting Florida, Scandinavia and Australia, and have stayed in touch with all our exchangers. We have three outdoor cats, who would need feeding and a bit of affection, but a friend could feed them if you wanted to go further afield. We would be very happy to look after your pets and plants and of course would look after your house as well as we do our own.

Destination

This is our home, so only simultaneous exchanges are possible. Our region is lovely in spring and autumn, as well as summer. We'd be happy to do short weekend breaks within France, as well as longer exchanges of several weeks. As we travelled around Australia last year, we'd prefer to exchange within Europe in 2008, but are quite happy to hear from other destinations for 2009. We always reply to all enquiries.
