Description

Our house is located in Oranmore, at the mouth of Galway Bay approximately 4 miles from the city centre of Galway. It is a new 3 bedroom house and we currently have it set up as 2 bedrooms and 1 study. Galway City is one of the most beautiful destinations in Ireland and in the summer it buzzes with the Galway Art Festival (3 weeks in July), street theatre and the third biggest Horse Racing meet in England/Ireland in August. It is a unique city located on Galway Bay complete with a blue flag beach, golf, fine dining, horseback riding on the beach in Barna, many art galleries and water sports, etc. etc. Our home is located in the village of Oranmore, a suburb of Galway just 1 mile from the Galway Bay Golf Club, The Galway Bay Sailing Club and the beautiful park of Renville which has both sea walks and forest walks including an extensive children's playground. There is also a children's playground within walking distance in oranmore village. It is a perfect base to see the entire west of Ireland – including surfing areas like Lahinch. We have surf boards, golf clubs and bikes that could be used during the exchange. Shannon Airport is located 1 hour's drive away and Galway airport is located 5 minutes drive away. We have a home entertainment centre and, wonderful neighbours and 2 cars to choose from.

Neighborhood

We live in the village of Oranmore, a charming village with pubs, church, cinema, hotels and several international restaurants.. You can walk to the village from our home in a few minutes, and the sea is just a mile away. We live on a cul de sac so it is quite safe for small children. There are 2 cars to choose from, a new Ford Focus and an old Peugeot 306.There is a playground within walking distance and another more extensive playground 1 mile away in the park that is situated next to the sea with beautiful forest walks with a view of Galway from across the Bay. About Us

We are a couple in our mid thirties with no children. We are both professional engineers and work locally in Galway City. Our main interests are to enjoy the outdoors and the ocean – and therefore we have bikes, surfboards, kayaks that may be used as part of the exchange. We are interested in exchanging to an area that is by the sea – preferably with some surfing spots nearby, and that is easily accessible from Ireland – especially if there are direct flights from nearby Shannon or Knock Airport.

Destination

This may be a non-simultaneous holiday as we are planning 3 holidays this year.

Europe - Sept 21 for 2 weeks
South Africa - Dec 20 - for 2 weeks

We are going skiing at start of March for 1 week - so house will be available also.
