Description

House on the lower slopes of extinguished volcano Agua, on the outskirts of Antigua Guatemala with a spectacular view of the surrounding volcanoes.

Main level with fully equipped kitchen, large dining/living area with a concert piano – you are welcome to use it if you are good at it. We have an iPod player so bring your own iPod, just in case you are into younger music than ourselves. On the same floor you have a choice of two guest rooms with cable television, high-speed wireless internet connection, and the extended living area of a U-shaped patio, and the large garden with barbecue.

Neighborhood

Activities: Exploring colonial Antigua, Lake Atitlan and the Highlands, taking a trip to the Rio Dulce and Tikal, finding out about coffee-growing and processing.
Physical activities range from partying with the young crowd in Antigua to mountaineering, mountain biking and horse-riding tours around the area, to water-rafting and sailing on the Atlantic coast. You can arrange these activities through local travel agencies. We can help you contact reliable tour operators.

About Us

Maria Elena is a Guatemalan lawyer and notary and Werner (German) a retired business man, both in our sixties. This is our first attempt at home exchange.
We prefer a non-simultaneous exchange, at least on our side, because we would like to personally explain the amenities of the house to you, and for you to get acquainted with our staff (2 gardeners and the cleaning lady who can do your laundry if you wish) and the Doberman which can be confined to a separated area in the back of the garden. We also would like to get to know you in person and maybe give you some guidance with regard to getting to know our country.

Destination

non-simultaneous in Guatemala. We travel each year from 1-5 to 15-6 and from 1-9 to 31-10. We would prefer London as a primary destination.
