Description

This is an upper ground floor apartment converted from a mansion house dating to c 1850. It is a grand and very spacious property with many original features including high ceilings, ceiling roses and plaster moldings with large marble fireplaces in every room. The two large reception rooms with bay and picture windows are complimented by two equally large bedrooms which retain their original wooden shutters.

The property has a modern fitted kitchen and bathroom and enjoys good quality furnishings throughout. The property has retained much of it's original character and charm and has the use of a quiet and secluded garden with kitchen access.

Neighborhood

Croydon is a borough of London and has all of the amenities and shopping facilities of a small city. It is a thriving, metropolitan town which is an excellent base from which to visit London and the South of England.

Perhaps the best thing about Croydon is it's proximity and access to central London, Brighton and Gatwick Airport. The Gatwick to London train runs 24 hours a day stopping at East Croydon all through the day and night. The journey time to central London from Croydon is 15 minutes as is the journey time to Gatwick Airport. There are frequent and direct trains to Brighton from east Croydon.

The apartment is ideally situated to take advantage of these transport links. It is only 15 minutes walking distance from central Croydon and 10 minutes walking distance from East Croydon railway station. Trains run all through the night to Victoria Station and there are very frequent services to, Clapham Junction, London Bridge, Farringdon and Kings Cross.

The property itself is located in a very quiet, leafy street in the best part of Croydon. It is a short 3-5 minute walk from the village of Addington which has many small shops, pubs and restaurants. At the top of the road (2 minutes) is a tram stop which takes you directly to East Croydon station, central Croydon and on to Wimbledon.

By 2010 Croydon will have an underground station linking it with The City of London, Canary Wharf and the London Olympics.

About Us

We are a professional couple in our 40s employed as an archivist and a solicitor (lawyer) with her own practice. We travel abroad at least twice each year and particularly enjoy holidays that allow us to visit galleries, museums and sites of historical interest. We also enjoy the theater, ballet, restaurants and concerts. When traveling we usually stay in 4* plus accommodation but particularly like boutique style hotels. We are both very tidy and house proud and have a great deal of respect for other people and their property.
