Description

Our house is a 1930s semi detached house in the suburbs of Leicester a medium sized city in the centre of the UK. It is very typical of the many pre war houses, brick built with tiled roof, small garden to the front and a larger one at the back. It has 3 bedrooms, but one is used as a study it can accommodate 3 easily and 4 or 5 if you want to be cosy! One bedrroom has a 6ft wide bed the other a 4 ft one, both are very comfortable. There is single sofa bed in the lounge and we have an airbed as well. The house is modernised and we have all the usual things you would find in a family home; central heating (air con not needed!) washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, TV with extra channels, DVD, 24 hour interent access, PC, etc. We have a garden which faces south west so is nice and sunny and garden furniture.

Neighborhood

The house is in the highly regarded Stoneygate area of Leicester. Stoneygate is a leafy suburb of Leicester with many old and beautiful houses. Stoneygate is a conservation area which has ensured the area has retained its original character. There are local neighbourhood shops 3 minutes walk away, where you can buy fresh bread, milk, newspapers, etc. there are also some very nice boutiques and individual shops.
Within walking distance is Victoria Park a large open space with children's play areas next to the University campus and DeMontfort Hall which hosts concerts and outdoor performances in the summer. The Arboretum is also within walking distance.
Leicester City centre is about 30 minutes walk, the walk can be taken across Victoria Park and along New Walk, an old victorian walkway into the city centre, this route is traffic free and includes beautiful victorian buildings. There is also a frequent bus service into the city centre with buses every 10 minutes or so. Leicester City centre has excellent shopping including a busy permanent market for fresh fruit and veg. The railway station is about 30 minutes walk or 10 minutes bus ride and from here you have easy access to the rest of the country, trains to central London take 75 minutes and are every 30 minutes. About Us

We are a couple of 46 and 54, we both work in Environmental Health for the City Council. We have a 21 year old daughter who does not live at home and may travel with us.
We are very easy going and have a relaxed attitude to life. We like to travel, eat at nice restaurants, drink nice wine and like to try and discover the 'real' face of a place rather then the tourist traps.
We have two cats and a dog, they won't be here when you visit but the house would probably not be suitable if you have pet allergies.
We do not smoke and would not want you to smoke in our house, but smoking outside is OK.

Destination

We would really like to stay in Manhatten, New York. We could do a non-simultaneous exchange and our dates can be very flexible for this. Our dates for visiting New York are flexible within the date range given
