Description

Our home is a 3 bedroom brick bungalow 24 years old. The house and garden are both easy to maintain, there is a garage and parking space for several vehicles.
The main bedroom has built-in robes and on-suite facilities. The main bathroom has large Jacussi style bath.
The lounge has large glass doors leading to a patio area with gas barberque.
The kitchen has an automatic washer, dishwasher, cooker, microwave etc. and is large enough to eat in. The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen.

Neighborhood

Spennymoor is a small town 5 mles south of Durham City. Our home is in a quiet street wihin 5 minutes walk of all local shops and amenities. There is large supermarket and leisure centre close by. The neighbours are a quiet respectable mixture of young families and retirees.
Although we are in the town centre, open countryside is only a 10 minute stroll away.
The town is on bus routes to all major towns such as Durham, Newcastle and Middlesbrough. There are two International airports within a 40 minute drive, a main-line train staton within a 15 minute drive with direct connections to London and Edinburgh. Being near the coast it is only 45 minutes to ports for ferries to Holland, Norway and Sweden.
The English Lake District and Scottish border are about 90 minutes by car. For history buffs the ancient cities of Durham and York with their Norman cathedrals, Holy Island and Captain Cook's Whitby and many medieval castles are within an easy dive
For those interested in walking the unspoilt Durham and Yorkshire Dales offer some marvelous opportunities to get away from it all.

About Us

The pair of us who are non-smokers and about to retire from many years in further education and hoping to travel extensively using house swaps as much as posible. Although we have not yet had a swap due to pressure of work. We built our present house and would look after anyone's property as if it were our own.
Our children are in South Australia one is a certified accountant and the second a nurse both working and living in Adelaide.
We both enjoy the fresh air, walking and camping as often as possible.

Destination

We prefer a simultaneous swap but could facilitate a non-smiultaneous one
Our dates and length of stay are both very flexible. Location is not an issue, we would relish something new or different.
