Description

This is our holiday home and as such it's a terrific spot for holidays!

We have our plans sorted for 2008 now and are interested in house swaps for 2009.

Firstly it's pretty large for a holiday home - 4 bed, 4 bath. We have, over the years added all the essentials like satelite TV, fully fitted kitchen. The best thing about Camojan however is it's pool. It's a communal pool that we share with the other 20 houses in the development. It's never too busy however as the houses are nearly all owner occupied and as such it is rarely full to capacity. Over the summer months I usually share the pool area with another 2 or 3 families - enough for the kids to find play mates but not too busy to intrude upon a restfull holiday! The pool rules are fairly strict about no wild parites. It's open 10am - 10pm every day. Camojan is a mature, sophisticated family ambience. Your neighbours are our friends. Naturally we have had terrific barbecues in our own back garden (It's about 25 feet long) but we would still respect noise levels after say 10 pm.

The views of the Mediterranean are spectacular but that's because we're up the hill from Marbella. You can walk to the town but it's a power walk. You really do need a car to stay here. The supermarket at the bottom of the road is terrific and the famous Peurto Banus is a 10 mintue drive.

There is LOADS to do on the Costa Del Sol. I have entertained my 4 duahgters there for the entire summer over the last 8 years. Check out Marbella.com for more info on swimming with seals, going on trips to Africa, 30Km away, visiting amusement parks .. too much to discuss here. Ditto the restuarants. We still haven't managed to get through them all but we do have an enormous jar in the house filled with the business cards from all our happy experiences.

That's all I can think of at the moment

Neighborhood

Our house is in an area of Marbella called Sierra Blanca. This is an affluent neighbourhood. It is quiet and sophisticated. The 20 houses in our development are usually at around 1/2 occupency during the summer months. Some homes have been in the same family for over 20 years. Because the food is so good in Marbella I do a Power walk from the house down to the beach each day. I tell you coming back up that hill works off any white wine from the night before. The best walk is the Paseo. This is the promenade from Marbella to Puerto Banus. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT because you have everything from the super fit to the super outrageous walking up and down there! It's the walk just along the beach and it's absolutely lovely. Marbella is also terrific because I feel very safe there with my 4 daughters. My husband cannot come down for the entire summer but it's quite safe for me and my girls to go out. Taxis are quick and dependable. Marbella is clean and the climate is exquisite. An onshore breeze keeps the air cool as the summer temperatures sore.

You will need a car for doing your grocery shopping and sight seeing however as we are up the hill. The buses are also very good and dependable. Malaga is the nearest airport - about 50 minutes drive away by motorway. Everybody speaks english (phew!)

Just to give you an idea. I have gone down for 8 weeks every summer for the last few years and we still haven't run out of things to do. It's just that we would like the girls to realise that there's more to the world than our Andalucia.

The biggest danger is that you'll get so comfortable around the pool that you won't actually end up getting out at all! I really think there's eomething in the air in that part of Spain. Hurrying and panicking just go out the window. It's so laid back it really recharges my batteries.

If you do go with your kids, however you must get one evening away alone, because it is also an incredibly romantic place....

About Us

We are the Higgins family. I am a home maker and my husband is a business man. We live in Dublin, Ireland and we are offering up our Spanish holiday home for exchange. (Our Irish house in under construction and is not ready for a house swop!) There is me, my husband and our 4 daughters. They range in age from 2 to 11 and so Camojan Blanco has been a terrific base for the last decade but now it's time to get a little bit more adventurous...

While English is our mother language, we also speak a little Spanish which helps in Marbella. In truth Andalucia is actually so multi national at this stage you don't actually need to speak Spanish at all but I do like to make an effort.

We are an active family and do a lot of day trips to the beach when we're over there. In Ireland Tennis is our sport but I still haven't managed to get up the va va voom when I'm on holidays.

We walk in Marbella. Everybody walks there.

Our custom is to rise late and have a fresh fruit breakfast. Then we relax by the pool for a few hours. More than that is not healthy in the strong sun. We take a long lazy lunch and then have a small siesta or read. In the evening - around 8 o'clock we go out for a walk on the Paseo. This is a family affair which takes a leisurely pace and inevitably ends up in a playground for the little ones. We spend about 2 hours walking like this. You'll find the world and his wife on the Paseo. You will also see young love and groups of teenage kids. I love the fact that all ages are doing it. Then we eat - as does everybody in Andalucia - around 10pm. We end up coming home around 1 or 2am. The girls really love it as do we.

It does take some effort to organise a day trip as the routine above is so easy and satisfying but that's what holidays are all about I suppose.

We've had terrific sun in Marbella in right up to December. Sring is less certain. May - Sept are heaven, weather wise!
