Description

We have a lovely 4-level home with a huge modern kitchen complete with granite countertops and island, maple hardwood floors and cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and a large "conservatory" and kitchen eating area. Of the kitchen is a dining room, family room, mudroom, laundry room, two bathrooms, and foyer. These are on the mail level. The 2nd level includes our bedrooms: two master bedrooms with ensuite showers. Our master has a tiled walking rain shower with deep soaking tub, skylights, and granite countertops (King bed), as well as three sets of French Doors and a balcony from which to watch horses or wildlife. The other master has a queen bed and large walk-in large shower. The rest of the floor comprises our daughter's room (full-size bed), our son's room (bunk beds full & twin), and a guest room with ensuite shower/bath combo. An additional bathroom is off the hall for our children to use. The top level is a gaming room with toys and a large-screen TV. The lower level of the home has a separate outside entrance and is usually an inlaw suite, but is presently being used by a friend of the family. She is a single professional woman who will not be sharing any part of the home with you, as her "apartment" is privately accessed. For entertainment outside with have a netted full-size trampoline and slide/swing set. Inside, we have wireless Internet, DVD/VCR combo television in the kitchen, cable TV, PS1 and GameCube, and a large-screen TV. We live on 5 acres in a "bedroom" community of Washington, DC, not far from the metrorail system (a 15-minute drive). In the summer, our lot has hydrangae, a magnolia tree, holly trees, cherry trees, a lilic treen, as well as many other lovely shrubs and trees. We also have a brick driveway. My husband's home office (behind the dining room) will be locked and "off limits" due to security and tax reasons.

Neighborhood

We have a beautiful neighborhood that is considered a horse community. Although we don't have horses, many of our neighbors do, so it's fun to walk around our private neighborhood subdivision of 20 homes. Despite the country feel of a home on five acreas (unusual in Fairfax County), we are only 16 miles from downtown Washington, DC, and within a 3-hour drive to New York City. A short (10-15 minute drive) takes you to the metro system, where you have access to the entire city, including the Smithsonian museums, the new International Spy Museum and Newseum, the Holocaust museum, monuments (two that are relatively new), the Kennedy Center, and SO much more. If you want to drive into the city, we have a car for you to use, as long as the exchange is similary on your end.

About Us

We are Ralph and Elisabeth and have two fantastic well-behaved children age 6 (boy) and age 4 (girl). Ralph owns his own design/build company and I am a professional writer and partime English teacher. We love traveling, meeting new people, and seeing all of what our wonderful world has to offer. We have one very sweet dog, a labradoodle, and two soft, silky, declawed cats. They can be boarded away, although we prefer you take them in as your own and care for them while we are away. Of course we would do the same for any pets you have. Our cats are friendly and easy to take care of, as is our dog, as we have an invisible fence so you don't need to walk her. Although our daughter is Chinese, we all speak English and a little bit of Spanish.
