Description

Large 2 storey 1930's character house set among tall mature trees that attract a number of birds and secluded by large gates. in the heart of the Burren.There is plenty of archaeological interest surrounding Lisdoonvarna with many ring forts dating back to the Iron and Christian era.Lisdoonvarna developed into a tourist area as early as the mid 18th century due to the mineral waters which are rich in iron and sulphur and at present the only Spa in Ireland.It was because of these mineral springs and the huge amount of people coming here that led to the Lisdoonvarna "Matchmaking" tradition which continues today during the whole length of september where people from all over the world come and enjoy the music,dance and craic throughout the month some in hope of finding their lifelong partner and some very successfuil/Lisdoonvarna is close to many tourists attractions such as Cliffs of Moher,the Burren and the rugged North Atlantic Coast.Doolin famous for traditional Irish music is 15 mins drive and from doolin you can easily reach the Aran Island by ferry also nearby is Lahinch famous for its surf and links golf club.The town of lisdoonvarna has a number of colourful pubs all providing good food and nightly traditional entertainment a post office ,church ,butcher and supermarket petrol station.A nearby market town of Ennistymon is 15 mins drive.Bicycle hire is available in the town also guided walks along the burren.Angling is a big sport and you will find many ideal areas for fishing in the area surrounding Lisdoonvarna.Blathana lodge is a homely house decorated to a high standard in keeping with the house

Neighborhood

The area in which the house is situated is very safe.The town itself has little or no crime.One would feel very safe walking home from the pub to the house as the road is well lit by street lights.A regular bus servive is available twice daily servicing shannon airport which is 50km away.Galway which is 55kms ,Limerick 60kms.Taxi are readily available in the town.

About Us

We are Peter and Florence Blackhall.We reside in london alot of the year and our exchange house is in the west of Ireland Co.Clare.Peter is a plumber and i am a care home manager for people with alzheimers and dementia.We have many interest which include camping.golf ,bird watching travelling

Destination

As our house is not occupied all the time our exchange does not have to be simultaneous and we are flexible with dates inclinding Christmas.We also have a car available and a contact person for info ect.We are looking for some where hot near the sea for Christmas 2007 New year 2008.
