Our home is in a beautiful wooded area, on Siltcoos Lake, just south of Florence, Oregon. There is no road to our house & it is accessible only by boat. Our home is located within sight of a small RV park, where we keep a boat moored. The 16' aluminum boat with 28 HP electric start outboard motor, is available for your pleasant 5 minute boat ride to our house, to explore the lake, go fishing, etc.
Siltcoos Lake is the largest lake on the Oregon coast. The lake is approx 3,200 acres in size & about 2 or 3 miles across the longest part of the lake. In a direct line, the Pacific ocean is 4 or 5 miles to the west. By road (from the RV park), it’s about 12 or 13 miles to the ocean. Old Town Florence & the Siuslaw river are about 11 miles. There are many nice shops & restaurants for you to enjoy.
Our home is 1,300 sq feet, with 2 bedrooms & one bathroom. The main bedroom has a king size bed, with a view of the lake. The second bedroom has a queen size bed. The main part of the house has the kitchen, dining area, & living room, with great views of the lake. Over the last several years, we have done major remodeling of the house, including new plumbing & electrical systems, new kitchen & bathroom cabinets, new countertops, new sink, refrigerator, down draft range, etc. Although I’ve still got some work to do, everything is functional & our home is cozy & comfortable.
Florence is located on the middle of the Oregon coast. There are miles of huge sand dunes to the south & gorgeous rugged rocky coastline to the north. 10 miles north of Florence, Heceta head lighthouse is one of the most beautiful lighthouses on the west coast. The entire area is a great spot to relax & enjoy nature, or do some sightseeing & exploring at the beach. Our home would be available from July through September. It would not need to be a simultaneous exchange. I have additional photos I can send to you.
Neighborhood
Our home sits on 3.4 wooded acres, with a wooded hillside behind us. Our property has several hundred feet of wooded lakefront, with a walkway from the house down to the dock. At times, you may see migratory waterbirds, osprey, eagle, heron, otters, beaver, deer, racoons, chipmunks, squirrels, & many different varieties of birds. The lake has a variety of freshwater fish, including trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch, bluegills, crappies, & bullheads. The west end of the lake has a small stream, the Siltcoos River, which flows into the ocean. There is a good run of native Coho salmon which come from the ocean, move up the river, & then back into the lake. When the fall rains come, they swim upstram into the small tributary creeks , so they can spawn. In recent years, fishermen have once again been allowed to fish for salmon in the lake, starting on October 1st each year.
Summertime temperatures are mild, typically in the mid 60's & 70's, with sunshine & relatively low humidity.
About Us
My wife & I are retired & enjoy traveling. In the winter, we take our RV south to the Colorado River, just south of Lake Havasu, on the California/Arizona border. We enjoy water, fishing, exploring, & sightseeing. We would like to travel as much as possible.
Our children are grown, so no kids at home any more. We have a small dog, Tidbit, a toy pomeranian. We have a friend who can take care of Tidbit in case we do a vacation home exchange where a small pet would not be appropriate.
Destination
We are fairly flexible with our time & possible travel dates. If you come to our Siltcoos lake home, we would be here to meet you & show you our home. We would then stay at our travel trailer in Florence. We could use your place at whatever time works for you & works for us.
Although we are open to any ideas & offers, we are specifically interested in vacation exchanges on the Oregon coast, ie Lincoln City, Inn at Spanish Head, Inn at Otter Crest, Embarcadero, Depoe Bay, Yachats, Newport, etc.
We are interested in an exchange in the central Oregon ski areas, ie Sun River, Mount Bachelor, etc.
We would love to spend a week in the Seattle area during the Seattle Mariner's baseball season. We have never been to a Mariner's game, but would really like to go.
Other areas of interest include Hawaii, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Australia, England, Italy, & Latvia.
