Description

Our comfortable ranch style home is uniquely located on over an acre of property right in the heart of Sonoma County's largest city, Santa Rosa. However, you'll feel completely private as you take in the beautiful southfacing views of the valley and distant hills during the day and enjoy the sunsets and twinkling lights of the city at night. Our hillside property boasts plenty of level play area for the whole family, with an outdoor pool, hot tub, patio, play structure and lots of lawn for running around!

Covered porches and views from the kitchen, dining and living room windows bring the outdoors in. The home is functionally decorated with a combination of new furniture and antiques to provide a cozy yet beautiful atmosphere. Families will feel right at home in the boy's and girl's rooms (toys included!). A den and office provide extra space and can easily turn into additional sleeping areas. The master bedroom has direct access to the pool for those private dips under the stars. Food lovers will appreciate the newly remodeled kitchen and top of the line appliances.

Neighborhood

Use our location as a springboard to see the sights of Northern California, then return to our sunny hillside home to get away from it all! We're only 30 minutes from Bodega Bay, 50 minutes from San Francisco, 1 1/2 hours from Mendocino and 3 1/2 hours from Lake Tahoe.

We are just as centrally located within wine country for those weekend getaways. Our proximity to Hwy 12 and 101 puts you at the gateway to wine country's premier destinations: Sonoma's Valley of the Moon and Carneros region to the east, the Russian River Valley to the west, and the spectacular Dry Creek, Alexander & Knights Valleys that encircle the quaint town of Healdsburg just north. And, oh yeah, we're just next door to that other wine region you may have heard of...Napa Valley!

But if you don't know your pinot from a syrah, there is still much to enjoy in Sonoma County. Beautiful parks and trails are everywhere for hiking, biking and horseback riding. There are rugged coastlines, lakes and rivers to explore. Quaint backroads and tiny towns to discover by car or bicycle.

And if a lowkey retreat of shopping, dining and pampering is more your style, you won't be disappointed. We are just moments away from the best markets, restaurants, spas and shopping centers in the area. Our home is located in an older, well established neighborhood. It is well used by dog walkers and joggers who enjoy the quiet, hilly terrain.

About Us

We are a family of five and have been married fourteen years. We were raised here and, before kids, traveled quite a bit. Our two boys are 6 and 4 while our daughter is 2. They are busy but well behaved. We are excited about home exchange and getting the chance to see and do more with our young family.

My husband is an orthopeadic sales rep and works closely with the doctors and hospital staff while in surgery. However, his passion is mountain and road biking. I have the privledge and full time job of staying at home with the kids! I enjoy reading, yoga, my family and learning about other people and places. We also have two outdoor-only cats.

We spend quite a bit of time at home and love working on projects to improve this lovely older house and yard. We purchased it a few years ago from the original family and nothing had been changed since 1951! It has come a long way and is comfortable, yet well lived-in. It has the charm and quirks of a real home, not a showroom, and would be perfect for a couple or family to enjoy. We certainly do!

Destination

We would love to explore weekend exchanges in CA to places such as Carmel, San Diego, Tahoe, Solvang, Santa Barbara, SF, etc.

We are also up for longer exchanges to states within driving distance: OR, WA, NV, AZ.

We're looking for a place in San Diego, Ensenada or the Guadalupe Valley in Mexico to visit with family in the summer of '08.
